How do you ensure a long-term vision with the habits you’re trying to build and goals you’re trying to reach?
➡️Focus on sustainability
When your goals/habits are sustainable, you can:
✅ Learn to enjoy the process more than the result
✅ Be more authentic in the pursuit of the habit/goal
✅ Recognize when it’s time to pivot
So, what should you look for in a sustainable goal?
➡️ Does your environment support your success in maintaining this habit or achieving this goal?
Do you have a specific time each day to work toward this goal or implement this habit?
Do you have the proper space and resources to do so?
You’ll often find me doing work in my car, in the driveway, because it’s the best environment for me to get some peace and quite and enter the flow state.
➡️ Does the habit/goal have opportunities for ‘small wins’ along the way?
Small wins motivate you throughout the journey and allow you to have fun while pursuing your goal.
Taking proper time to recognize and celebrate those wins can ensure your longevity in the game.
➡️ Are you able to pursue the goal authentically?
If you can’t be yourself in the pursuit of the goalIf you have to act like someone else or if you’re doing something for external reasons.
Then, your ability to sustain the habit/goal will be non-existent.
Remember the post I made on Monday?
If your identity doesn’t align with the new habit/goal you’re trying to build, it’s likely you’ll never be successful.
So, either build a new identity out of authenticity and the internal desire to reach the goal.
Or make a new goal.
When I started out on X, all the growth bros said I had to comment/engage 100+ times per day to grow. But that would’ve been an unsustainable metric for me, and it would prevent me from being authentic in the way I engaged and the comments I left.
So, I made the new goal of 50 comments per day because that was the maximum I could do while still remaining authentic and genuine.
❗All of these things that make your habits/goals more sustainable❗
➡️Are ways to reduce the barriers that stand in your way
When you’re trying to form a new habit or reach a long-term goal…
✅ The barrier to entry should be LOW
✅ And you should take the path of least resistance
